Admiral Thad W. Allen, joins SELEX Galileo Inc. BoD
Former Commandant of the USCG, Retired Admiral Thad W. Allen, joins SELEX Galileo Inc. BoD bringing 38 years of leadership experience in the US defense sector to the Company
The SELEX Galileo Inc. board of directors announced that Retired Admiral Thad Allen, previously Commandant of the United States Coast Guard (USCG), accepted an appointment to the SELEX Galileo Inc. board of directors. “We are pleased that Admiral Allen accepted this position on our board. The breadth of his experience makes him an outstanding addition to the organization,” said SELEX Galileo Inc. chairman of the board General Ryan.
Admiral Allen has more than thirty-eight years uniformed experience during which time he served in various leadership roles. His distinguished career includes leading the federal response and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, when he served as the principal federal official as well as the Coast Guard chief of staff. Most recently, Admiral Allen managed the response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, when he was appointed by the White House as the national incident commander, a position he continued to serve after his official retirement from the USCG in June, 2010.
“The enduring challenge of maintaining technical superiority in the acquisition and fusion of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance information in an era of diverse global threats is the focus of SELEX Galileo’s business. I look forward to working [those challenges] with the team,” said Thad Allen, newly-appointed SELEX Galileo Inc. member of the board.
Admiral Allen is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He also holds two masters degrees: one in public administration from the George Washington University, and one in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. In addition, Admiral Allen is a National Academy of Public Administration fellow. Among his many awards, Admiral Allen is the recipient of two Homeland Security Distinguished Service Medals, the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, three Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medals, a Legion of Merit Medal, and three Meritorious Service Medals.
