Hervé Morin “merging of the European Industrial groups is the way to achieve budgetary savings”
The former (2007-2010) French defense minister, Herve Morin, evaluated that the French Defence Budget will probably miss 30 billion euros due to the crisis.
“A country without a penny is a country whose independence is trimmed to its very foundations. And the defense is a perfect example,” he said.
Asked about maintaining the French nuclear deterrent force, the former defense minister sees that that the French Government could continue to hold the seaborne and airborne components as in the past, only making totally bloodless the conventional means.
To achieve budgetary savings, Hervé Morin proposes the merging of the European Industrial groups, to avoid duplication of programs that are highly costly to states, and the acceptance of interdependence in Europe.
