Giancarlo Grasso appointed Chairman of Alenia Aermacchi
The Board of Directors of Alenia Aermacchi, during today’s session held in Turin, has taken note of the resignation of Chairman Amedeo Caporaletti and appointed Giancarlo Grasso as the new Chairman.
Chairman Giancarlo Grasso will be vested with the power to manage the company’s business strategies, a responsibility he will exercise in coordination with the Chief Executive Officer, withstanding all responsibilities and powers previously and already vested in Giuseppe Giordo.
The Board of Directors of Alenia Aermacchi wish to convey a special thanks to the outgoing chairman for his commitment to the company and for all of his intense dedication and effective work during his term of office, which coincided with a phase of profound company reorganization.
Born in Taranto, Giancarlo Grasso graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1963 at the “Università degli Studi di Roma” where, in 1971, he obtained the former qualification for teaching.
Along his career, he held several positions within the Finmeccanica Group and, more specifically, in the companies engaged in Defence Electronics. In 1997 he was appointed Manager of the Aviation Department of the then Alenia.
Chairman of the Board of Directors at Alenia Marconi System (1999-2001), Otomelara (2001-2005) and Galileo Avionica (2001-2007), in 2002 he joined Finmeccanica as Central Technical Director to achieve in 2007 the position of Senior Advisor to the Chairman and Managing Director.
He was Managing Director at Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems from 2005 until 2007, and at Selex Communications S.p.A from 2009 until 2011, and, among others, he is the Dean of the NIAG Board at NATO.
