Export sanctions against Russia would not have a significant impact for Defence & Security companies because of the limited, non-strategic reliance and the fact that the cooperation is based on joint ventures.

Italian invesments in Russia are with Iveco – for the Light Mobility Vehicles – Agusta-Westland – for the AW139 – and Elettronica – for the ANtonov An-140 electronics.Furthermore SELEX ES, with its UK division, is linked with Russian companies for the production of avionics systems.

The report (available here) concludes that the partnership with Russia, if derailed by economic sanctions, may only mean “a short-term hiatus”.
