Russia-Ukraine Crisis and the Impact on the Aerospace and Defence Industries
Russia-Ukraine Crisis and the Impact on the Aerospace and Defence Industries is the title of a short report issued by Frost & Sullivan. They affirm that this “geopolitical shock is unlikely to come as a huge surprise to any business investing in the region”. Export sanctions against Russia would not have a significant impact for Defence & Security companies because of the limited, non-strategic reliance and the fact that the cooperation is based on joint ventures.
The highest Russia and European companies level of cooperation between is significant in Germany, Italy and France. Italian invesments in Russia are with Iveco – for the Light Mobility Vehicles – Agusta-Westland – for the AW139 – and Elettronica – for the ANtonov An-140 electronics.Furthermore SELEX ES, with its UK division, is linked with Russian companies for the production of avionics systems.
The report (available here) concludes that the partnership with Russia, if derailed by economic sanctions, may only mean “a short-term hiatus”.
