Phebe Novakovic New COO at General Dynamics

Phebe Novakovic, who currently heads the Marine System‟s Group at General Dynamics, is being promoted to president and chief operating officer, the company announced March 8.

Novakovic, who will take over May 2 as the company‟s No. 2 executive, is considered a likely successor to retired Adm. Jay Johnson, former chief of naval operations for the U.S. Navy, and the company‟s current chairman and chief executive officer.
A former CIA officer, Novakovic joined GD in 2001 following a stint as a special assistant to the secretary and deputy secretary of defense. She served in a variety of strategic roles for the company before taking over her current operational position in May 2010.
